What actually happens
The unglamorous particulars.
Six small things, in the order you will meet them. None of them require anything of you.
Arrive whenever
The doors open half an hour before. Nobody will ask you to sign anything.
Sit in the back
Genuinely. The back rows are the best place to watch a service you don't yet know.
About seventy minutes
Morning worship runs a little over an hour. Evensong is closer to forty-five.
The plate passes
Let it pass. Giving is for the people who call this parish home, not for guests.
Children stay in
There is a staffed nursery, but no one minds the noise. They belong in the room.
Coffee in the yard
Afterwards, under the oak. It is the easiest place to meet someone.
Practical matters
Parking
Street parking on Meeting Street is free on Sundays. The lot behind the parish house is signposted and has accessible spaces by the garden gate.
Getting in
Step-free entry through the garden door on the south side, an accessible restroom in the parish house, and a hearing loop throughout the nave. Large-print orders of service are on the table by the door.
Who you are visiting
Come and see.
Psalmly Hill has kept the same hours on the same corner since 1874 — morning prayer, a sung evensong, and a table anyone may come to. We are an ordinary parish: older than most of us, plainer than you might expect, and glad you are reading this.
